Romelu Lukaku is set to join Manchester United after turning down former club Chelsea. Jose Mourinho turned his interest to a £75 million move for the Everton man, despite Alvaro Morata being hours away from sealing a move to Old Trafford.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was reportedly left 'fuming' after missing out on his No1 transfer target, while the Real Madrid striker was also surprised to hear of United's last-minute rejection.
Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez had decided to play hardball with the Red Devils over Morata's signing, not forgetting the incident which led to De Gea's frustrated signing in 2015.
Despite ending Morata's move to Old Trafford, Florentino Perez would consider transferring the centre-forward to Chelsea, who would also be happy to sign the striker after launching a £70m bid weeks ago.
Antonio Conte bought the Spaniard for Juventus and would welcome working with him again. The decision, ultimately, is down to Florentino Perez.
